High-Resolution Emissions from Wood Burning in Norway—The Effect of Cabin Emissions

نویسندگان

چکیده

Emissions from wood burning for heating in secondary homes or cabins is an important part the development of high-resolution emissions specific areas. Norway used as case study 20% national consumption occurs cabins. Our first shows a method to estimate based on traffic data derive cabin occupancy, which combined with need allows spatial and temporal distribution emissions. The combination residential (RWC) combustion (CWC) large differences, temporally “cabin population” can areas be orders magnitude larger than registered population. While RWC have been steadily reduced, CWC kept relatively constant even increased, results increase share total up 25–35%. When comparing regional emission inventories, our that gradient between rural urban not well-represented resembles population-based does allocate municipalities. may become increasing environmental concern higher densification trends mountain are observed.

Mercury emissions from biomass burning in China.

Biomass burning covers open fires (forest and grassland fires, crop residue burning in fields, etc.) and biofuel combustion (crop residues and wood, etc., used as fuel). As a large agricultural country, China may produce large quantities of mercury emissions from biomass burning. A new mercury emission inventory in China is needed because previous studies reflected outdated biomass burning with...

Emissions from Biomass Burning in the Yucatan

In March 2006 two instrumented aircraft made the first detailed field measurements of biomass burning (BB) emissions in the Northern Hemisphere tropics as part of the MILAGRO project. The aircraft were the National Center for Atmospheric Research C-130 and a University of Montana/US Forest Service Twin Otter. The initial emissions of up to 49 trace gas or particle species were measured from 20 ...

Ice nuclei emissions from biomass burning

[1] Biomass burning is a significant source of carbonaceous aerosol in many regions of the world. When present, biomass burning particles may affect the microphysical properties of clouds through their ability to function as cloud condensation nuclei or ice nuclei. We report on measurements of the ice nucleation ability of biomass burning particles performed on laboratory-generated aerosols at ...
